SEGAL GROUP CMS

The Segal Group needed a modernization of their ‘CMS’ interal application. The initial concept for the project was to redesign the experience for their field consultants selling insurance. The app was designed as a mobile first experience that would scale for any device.

My Role

I came into the project during the discovery phase and took over creating high fidelity mockups to review with the Segal Team. I also created and managed the front end of the application and assisted the Segal team with best practices for front end development. The project used Agile methodologies and I assisted in the creation of user stories, testing, and bug logging as well.

DESIGN PROCESS

Analysis of Existing Solution

Segals existing solution was over a decade old and in need of a facelift and usability overhaul. One challenge with the existing application was the dependence on having multiple windows open to accomplish any task. It was necessary to rethink these flows to be simpler, particularly to function on mobile.

Segal’s reporting dashboards were created by users with limited experience with Power BI in different divisions. We needed to analyze their reporting goals and create a consistent vision for exploring complex data sets.

User and Stakeholder Interviews

I met with stakeholders and the internal team to review the current flow of each feature to find pain points and areas to improve and modernize. After fully accessing their primary goals I was able to begin designing screens to share with them for feedback
